SYNOPSIS

Smokey Joe's Cafe mixes immortal hits with soulful choreography, with dance taken up a notch by director/choreographer Donna Drake. Leiber and Stoller's collaboration includes such unforgettable and ground-breaking hits as Stand By Me, Hound Dog, On Broadway, Jailhouse Rock, and Poison Ivy, which audiences will hear at Smokey Joe's Cafe along with over 30 others. Their songs established the careers of Elvis Presley, the Coasters, and the Drifters amongst others. This musical, called an "exuberant, colorful celebration" by Time Magazine, captures an American era of milkshakes shared across a table and jukeboxes filled with the new sound of Rock 'n Roll.

Presented through special arrangement with The Rodgers & Hammerstein Theater Library, 1633 Broadway, New York, NY 10019.
