The lights dim, the curtain rises and the audience holds its breath in anticipation of another fabulous theatrical production. Talent abounds at SMT´s costume division headed by Costume Manager and Resident Designer, Brian O´Keefe.

Each summer season, the Seaside Music Theater costume division places approximately 500 new costumes on stage, which adds to the overall show rentals available. An average of 12,600 labor hours go into making and altering the costumes for each season. Work on the lavish costumes created by O´Keefe and SMT´s guest designers begins months in advance. Meticulous research and planning go into the creation of each garment. Early in the year, the designers meet in New York for a whirlwind shopping trip for thousands of yards of rich fabrics used in the designs. Fabrics purchased cost as much as $125 per yard. The stunning red dress from Hello, Dolly! cost a whopping $1,000 and took nearly 100 hours to bring to reality.

There are no shortcuts at this shop; each custom garment is made to last for years as a national rental through Seaside´s theatrical rental house. Seaside Music Theater´s costume division... a tradition of excellence.
