-What is the Student Advisory Board (SAB)?

The Seaside Music Theater Student Advisory Board is an exciting program for students who are interested in the theater and the arts and for students who would love to know how a professional theater functions.

The Student Advisory Board regularly meets for one hour every other month and functions in every way as any not-for-profit board. The board raises awareness of SMT and helps it to grow and flourish.

-Here is what our student board members do:

Plan an exciting event around one of SMT's mainstage productions and raise money to bring underpriviledged children to a special student matinee.

  • Learn how to fund-raise, develop a marketing plan, and acquire public relations skills.
  • Meet and get to know theater professionals who work at SMT.
  • Learn what steps to take in deciding on a collage and a career in the theater.
  • Be invited to select SMT rehearsals and opening night performances.
  • Fulfill community service hour requirements for college applications.

-Who can be a member?

Any Volusia or Flagler county high school junior or senior actively interested or involved in theater may join.  Contact Gary Cadwallader at (386) 681-2721 or Email gary.cadwallader@seasidemusictheater.org for more information.

-Do you want to major in theater?

Choosing a good university theater program is probably one of the most important decisions you can make for yourself and your career. Getting into a high-quality university program, whether it be for acting, directing, musical theater, set design, costume design, lighting design, tech, arts management, dramaturgy, etc, is a real platform for a successful and enjoyable career in the theater. Let's face it, a theater career can be a tough path to choose, so getting into a really good school program will most likely set you in the right direction.
