Spotlight on Education
Master classes, School Day performances, workshopsï¾…these are just a few of the exciting and creative programs the Education Department at Seaside Music Theater offers to area elementary, middle, high school and college students, and senior citizens. Below is an overview of what SMT's Education Department offers.
The American Musical Theater Program
The American Musical theater program is the centerpiece of SMT's Education department. Now in its tenth year, this program sends SMT professionals into schools where they work in residence to teach all aspects of musical theater. This project culminates in fully staged performances. SMT programs have been in residence at Seabreeze High School, St. James Episcopal School, Father Lopez High School, New Smyrna Beach Middle and Pine Ridge High School.
School Day Performances
Every year SMT offers special school day performances for our Winter Season shows. When tickets are reserved, the teachers and students will receive:
-
A detailed, comprehensive study guide covering all aspects of the show
-
An optional pre-performance classroom visit from an SMT professional detailing the show
-
A post-performance talkback immediately following the production with actors, director, and creative team.
